How to apply Tooth Mousse Plus
Tooth Mousse Plus is applied topically to at-risk surfaces. This can be done by first cleaning the teeth and then smearing a small amount of Tooth Mousse Plus across the tooth surfaces with a clean finger, tooth brush or cotton tipped applicator. It is recommended Tooth Mousse Plus is applied straight after flossing and brushing you teeth before bed. The material is then left in place, to dissolve slowly overnight. It is not rinsed out. Tooth Mousse Plus can also be applied topically to the teeth, using a custom made tray such as a pull-down tray made for applying tooth whitening gel. |

Is It Safe To Use On Children?
Because Tooth Mousse Plus contains a level of fluoride similar to that of adult strength toothpastes, there are issues when the material is ingested either accidentally or deliberately in children. It is not recommended the use of Tooth Mousse Plus in young children because it may increase the risk of dental fluorosis. Children aged 6 years and below we recommended the use of Tooth Mousse, as it does not contain fluoride. Please contact us for further information.
What About Pregnant Mothers?
There are no proven dental or general health benefits or risks from pre-natal fluoride-containing products. Fluoride supplements are not indicated in pregnancy, however Tooth Mousse Plus can be used as a topical treatment in high caries risk pregnant women or in situations where reflux is causing dental erosion and dentinal hypersensitivity. |

Tooth Mousse Plus For Tooth Sensitivity
Sensitivity in teeth comes is often caused by loss of hard dental tissues by acid, from gastric reflux, regurgitation and vomiting, or from diet-related sources such as wine, citric fruit juices, yoghurt, soft drinks and worst of all, sports/energy drinks.
We recommend that you use Tooth Mousse Plus morning and night. Once applied, spit out but do not rinse. We want the Tooth Mousse to soak into the affected areas. |

Can Tooth Mousse Reverse White Spot Lesions?
Tooth Mousse can rebuild subsurface areas of defects in enamel, including white spot lesions from dental caries, white spot lesions associated with orthodontic treatment and fluorosis. In these defects, there are subsurface voids, which can be very effectively remineralised by application with Tooth Mousse, and this has been shown using optical and also radiographic tests at the University of Melbourne. For some white spot lesions it may be necessary to first pre-treat the lesion before application of Tooth Mousse. This pre-treatment may involve bleaching, acid etching or micro-abrasion. Recent research at the Dental School at the University of Melbourne has demonstrated that pre-bleaching is an effective pre-treatment for Tooth Mousse application.
Can Tooth Mousse Be Used In Patients With Dental Erosion?
Tooth Mousse is extremely effective at remineralising erosion areas, and can be used in patients who have gastro esophagea reflux disease, or eating disorders such as bulimia in order to protect these areas from dental erosion. If the saliva in the mouth is of good quality, as shown by saliva profiling, then fluoride is able to promote limited remineralisation because calcium and phosphate is present. However, fluoride will ineffectively remineralise teeth if the salivary flow is inadequate, because of the low levels of calcium and phosphate. Tooth Mousse provides bioavailable calcium and phosphate ions at the tooth surface at much higher levels than can be maintained by normal salivary flow. Therefore Tooth Mousse is recommended even for patients with normal salivary flow. |
